You know the ones they had in their Dollar Spot?

I was thinking about making heart shaped mini cakes for class on Sunday (yeah, I know, it's after Valentines Day) but didn't know how much of a pain they are to frost. I'm a little pressed for time this week because I have DD's bday party to prep for, etc. Would it be easier to frost a regular cake or these? We're supposed to bring 8. I considered cupcakes. I know I need the practice frosting and smoothing a regular cake, but this would save me soooo much time! icon_redface.gif

Yeah, they r a little tricky to ice. What I do is ice them however and then go over it with the viva paper towel. I have no time to waste trying to figure out other ways, lol. HTH! icon_wink.gif

I had to do 50 of those little guys...

I found it easier to ice the top and then zigzag the sides. Then decorate!

I think cupcakes are easier. Use tip 2D and make 2 layers of frosting... Maybe use bag striping. It'll be much faster icon_smile.gif

Yeah, I know the cupcakes would *definitely* be faster (and I'm kind of in a position where I need fast right now), but I know I would learn more doing the mini cakes or regular cake. What a predicament! icon_smile.gif

I did one of these covered with choc clay as an experiment. It was easy. you could experiment with some fondant as well, or just start tip them. It was difficult to try and smooth buttercream on, that's why I covered with fondant.

hope that helps... I'm being a bit spacey.
