Hi,

I don't know if any of you are interested in cutting a cake board to the shape of your pans, but here is how I used to do it.

I took the metal lid off a jar

found it's center

drove a thick nail through it, made a hole large enought to put a pencil in

put a sharpened pencil in the center, then placed the edge of the lid on the lip of my pan.

Then drew all around the pan.

Cut my boards

Different sized lids make different sized edges and I keep my "pattern" makers in a zip lock bag so I can easily find them.

Great idea- kind of like a Spirograph for cake boards! (I know at least some of you remember the Spirograph!)

Great idea, thanks for the tip. I've always thought shaped cakes don't look right on regular shaped boards.
