Likewise, it is all I use for cooking/baking when the recipe calls for cooking oil.

That is what I use as well. Even if I refer to vegetable oil in a recipe or a post I am meaning Canola Oil.

Me too! Canola oil is better for your heart. So I guess if you are going to eat cake or fried foods, you can make it a little healthier by using canola oil.

I can't tell a difference and I have a pretty sensitive palate. I use both, depending on what's on sale and haven't noticed any differences in texture or flavor.

I only use canola oil and the results are great. Once, when I was at my mom's, she only had regular vegetable oil, and it gave it a really funny taste. Now in all fairness, it was probably a cheap version of vegetable oil, but I don't know if they come in different grades or types of quality or whatever. But canola is the only one I use, and my cakes are always moist and yummy!

thank you all for responding.

I used the Canola and for some reason I think the cakes taste better today. Maybe cleaner if that makes sense.

I never use vegetable oil and always use canola for everything, got in the habit of that since it is healthier...not that it really makes a CAKE healthier...LOL! I haven't noticed a difference in flavor, but then again I haven't used vegetable oil in so long I can't remember!

I use whatever is around, canola, vegetable, corn...never really thought about them tasting different! LOL

I only buy canola now, though, so that's what I use!

I either use canola or olive oil. Actually I have had more compliments on my cakes baked with olive oil that anything. Everyone says they think they cake is much tastier and has great texture when I use olive oil icon_biggrin.gif
