I did not read the entire thread and don't have a comment on your clients, however I would talk about your quote below.....

It seems each time I take time to think about if I should continue with cakes or not I sit at my computer to check for orders and recieve something like this one.

How often do you question continuing? I am thinking if you have to ask yourself then perhaps you are not happy doing this and my heart hurts for you since you are debating if you should move on icon_sad.gif

Dear Tiptop57,
I left a corporate position that paid a great salary to follow my dream. Of course I feel selfish at times. I help with my 3 Grandchildren a lot, my husband just had by-pass surgery, my brother-in-law is waiting for a call from the Dallas hospital to rush and have MAJOR heart surgery, my brother who just had back surgery was admitted into the hospital with heart problems and yes.......I feel pulled between all of them especially considering my brother and sister live far away in North Texas (8 hours). I know everyone has their problems and I didn't mean to go on about mine but these are the times I wonder if I should take the easy road and work for someone else and participate in the financial solutions of my family more. My organized life has become very unorganized which stresses me out more than the multi-million dollar budgets I managed in my "past life". But again these are the times I am reminded by orders like this one that cakes are my passion and putting smiles on faces is my passion.

Doesn't anyone else feel selfish at times when you don't feel you are contributing as much as you could financially?

I had a request for (one) breast for a Breast Cancer Survivor. I made the cake and made a pink fondant ribbon to go with it. They loved it.

AlamoSweets,

If you gave up your business and it is your dream, how long do you think it would be before you start resenting your life and the choice to give it up. I do not know what the best answer is for you.........because you are really caught between a rock and a hard place.

I never had a highly paid position, just paid well. However, I personally do work full time days, (my day job), but I don't consider myself a baker but an artist. All the artists I know have to work to support their dream because their talent is usually not valued enough to support them on its own.

I, would give up everything in a moment and not look back and double guess myself if I could live to create.........(and I envy you and others like you whose dream supports them enough on its own.)
