I made this for a friend who plays the piano. The cake is covered in MMF. The figure is gumpaste and the piano is chocolate. This was my third fondant cake. I almost gave up after making a batch of wonky fondant that was too brittle, but I hung in there, made a new batch, and it came out great! I hope you like it!!!!

I love that cake...it's very nice!!! I want to create figures such as that..what do I use-fondant or gumpaste and what's the difference? Do I just color my pieces with color right before I begin molding? icon_smile.gif

For the piano, I found a mold and poured the Wilton dark chocolate candy melts in it. For the figure, I used fondant for the face and hair, and gumpaste for the body -- there's no reason why I split it up like that, I just happened to have extra fondant when I was doing the face, and extra gumpaste when I was doing the body. I kneaded the colors in and started modelling.

Beautiful! I was wondering if you have any tips for how you get your cake so smooth. I always seem to have lumpy sides.
