I had this dream last night that the house was on fire and I got my kids out safely. The firemen are not there yet and I run back into the inferno to save my KA. My DH says I'm crazy and told his family plus mine...now they all think I'm nuts. Wierd thing is I have had this dream about 3 times already. I honestly am wondering now if I would go back into the house to save my KA, it's my baby too!

Keep your most precious photos in a grab-and-go spot. Make sure your homeowners/renters insurance policy has full replacement and temporary shelter.

I just upped my renter's insurance this year, because of the investment I have made in books, pans, tools, and appliances. Next year I will be increasing it even more, to cover the investments I make this year.

People are funny about their priorities. My niece and her husband were transferred to Shreveport, Louisiana. Patti had never experienced a tornado, Jack calls home and tells her there is one forecast and to go into the bathroom and get into the tub, they were in an apartment, only room without a window. She writes to tell me about it and asks me what I think she took in with her for safe keeping. Her blown glass wedding topper from the wedding cake I made for them. icon_lol.gif

That is a nice story, Shirley. You are right, our priorities are all different. Whenever we have threatening weather here, my first thought is to get out the pet carrier so I can put my cat (who is now deceased) in it if it gets bad...I know if it got very bad he would hide and I wouldn't leave without him. I'm getting another cat this weekend, and I'm sure I will do the same thing with her.

I would want to make sure that my son and my husband were out. I think I would be devasted with out them. My KA is the greatest but I know I could replace that...maybe even a bigger one icon_twisted.gif

what a dream!
It would've probably be covered by insurance, so you could've gotten a brand new one icon_razz.gif lol.
Seriously though, like someone already said, keep your photos in a readily available spot. I've known people that lost all their family photos from a house fire.

Back in 1990 I lost everything due to an electrical fire. All my family photos, some going back to the turn of the 20th century, an officially autographed photo of Frank Sinatra, which would be worth a fortune now, some photos of the famous WW1 flying ace Eddie Rickenbacker and his crew. Just bunches of stuff that got burned up. So now, unless the steel vault at the bank burns down, I will not have to worry about that anymore.

I have all my photos and kids feet prints and video in their keep sake boxes in a corner of a room next to a window just in case. I just can't imagine loosing all of those memories.

I keep negatives of all my photos in a Safe Deposit box as well as some other stuff I absolutely could not bear to lose in case of a fire.

If a fire did happen in my apartment, I keep the cat carrier handy so I can put the cat in it (he's my baby!) and luckily, he's only indoor and hangs around us people so he wouldn't be hard to find at all.

Hi nikki-b, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who drags out the pet carrier right away! Got to take care of those four legged babies! Janice

PS I have so many boxes of photos, there is no way I could get them out (50 or 60 years worth!) so I have to just hope and pray for no disaster.

my cats would have to come too. I can't forget about my furry friends. The fish on the other hand I'm not to conserned about. I don't have time to try to get them in a net then into a bucket of water during a fire.
