Character Cake On Sheet Cake

Okay, question if I make a Character cake and want to place it on a sheet cake do I decorate it before placing it on the sheet cake and the other question how do I transfer it without cracing it! TIA I am new to this stuff and everyone is so helpful on here it says me a lot of mistakes!!

I would put the character cake on top and then decorate them both. I'm fairly new as well but that seems lioke the easier way to do it.

I made a sheet cake and a Barney character cake on top before I decorated Barney, I frosted the sheet cake then carefully slid the Barney cake on top and then decorated him. It was pretty easy, I just had to be careful not to mess up the sheet cake. I was afraid of cracking Barney if I would have decorated him first.

I would just put the character cake on the sheet cake(with icing in between like a 2 layer cake) then decorate. To move the character cake without it cracking, you can freeze it to make it a little easier to work with.

i cut a cake board in the shape of the pan so its the same size of the baked cake decorate it then I cut straws lower then height of sheet cake place them in frosted sheet cake then set shaped cake on board on sheet cake when time to serve there are two cake to cut
