I never do...but....since you can make pretty decent tasting truffles out of candy melts, ganache is just (in my mind anyway) just a more liquidy truffle base. (Funny as last weekend ran out of chocolate and was using any little bits I could to make a ganache, didn't think about the umteen bags of candy melts I have. LOL

TexasSugar...your cake is beautiful! Did you mix anything with the candy mellts before you covered you cake??? Did you just pour it on...it looks so even. I have always wanted to try this but did not know if I needed to mix anything else with it.
Thank you. I used the red candy melts and whipping cream (the Wilton Ganache recipe). The cake was iced with buttercream and smoothed, this helps you get a better finish.
