I am gearing myself up for my cake I need to start decorating tomorrow, but have a few questions. I am doing a three teired cake that is 12, 10, 8, 6 inches 3" high but that doesn't include my filling yet. So here goes.
1 How much buttercream will I need to cover this cake?
2 How much chocolate clay will I need?

Thanks alot everyone! Megan

Okay, thinking here......
I would say a full double batch of Wilton 1/2 butter 1/2 Crisco bc (going by what I use) will fill and frost the 12" with some to spare. Another double batch to fill and frost the 10" & the 8". Might have enough left over from those batches to fill and frost the 6". Maybe make an extra single batch just in case and to use for borders, etc. Totally guessing here so maybe going with three double batches total will cover you (you can always freeze the leftovers).
For the chocolate clay, I can't help you. Never used the stuff!

Oh, I think I forgot to say I am use=ing a cake dummie for the bottom. And I am using the cheesecake mousse for filling. Okay so I am thinking two double batches and one single to be safe for icing. Can anyone help me with the chocolate clay?

I would seriously pm Steady2Hands because she has done a three tiered cake in white chocolate clay. I know that one batch 10oz choc. and 1/3 cup light cornsyrup covered my 6" cake with plenty left over. So, one batch for the 6, 2 batches to be safe for the 8" and 2 for the 10" and Im sure you will need 3 batches for the 12". So all in all 8 batches....luckily it is EASY PEASY to make and not time consuming as making MMF!
