I just took a scratch yellow cake out of the oven. The house smells sooo good right now! ![]()
The problem is that I think I left it in a little too long so I am afraid it's gonna be on the dry side. Any suggestions on how I can nip that in the bud? If I make a simple syrup should I torte and brush it on while it is still warm (the cake that is)? Should I just wrap it up while still warm and let it steam itself? I'm not sure what to do here....
Thanks in advance everyone!
Thanks jscakes....
...bad news though....I made the syrup I had turned my cake over to get it out of the pan....it stuck completely around the side and ripped off about 2" all around!!! ![]()

...good news....the scraps taste pretty darn good!
Oh well, back to kitchen to make another cake.
Thanks again!
Sorry you had this happen.
Don't you just hate accidents like that...uhmmm, not always! I've just had one myself.
I made a carrot cake without baking soda. I don't recommend doing this as the dough does not rise one bit and it's a really heavy sucker too. The good news..it tastes pretty good!
