How would a cake turn out if you substituted water or oil w/ low-sugar ice cream?

I don't know how it would turn out, but why would you make that substitution?

That sounds almost like one of the recipes in the Cake Doctor cookbook, where you use melted ice cream instead of some of the liquid ingredients. (Not low-sugar or low fat ice cream, though.)

Well, I'm looking at my Haagen Dazs pint and the ingredients are cream, skim milk, sugar, chocolate coated almons, egg yolks, corn syrup, natural vanilla, salt. I guess it's an all-in-one of good stuff Veejaytx? I'm not sure. I was thinking because of the higher fat content, although if it was just that, we could use cream. The egg yolks too? And corn syrup? I'm not sure, I'm just asking away. . . icon_rolleyes.gif

I knew that I had heard of something like that, so I googled it, and here is what I found: Melted Ice cream cake using a cake mix:

I see they left the sugar out in that recipe. Well I was just speculating, so we'll see if I try this this weekend. icon_rolleyes.gif

Sometimes illogical ideas turn out to be genius. Let us know how that works out for you Nick. My mother once made grape jelly and forgot the pectin, best grape syrup for pancakes we ever had. Another time she made Brown sugar fudge, didn't cook it long enough and it made excellent Caramel sauce for ice cream. Did I ever tell you, my mother wasn't the world's greatest cook? World's greatest mom? Yes. Cook? Not so much.

Oh, I don't know about that, Shirley. Look at how much money she saved on grape syrup and caramel sauce for ice cream! Every cloud has a silver lining, right?
