i wouldnt leave it out for more than 2-4 hours, depending on the temperature.

Pudding and heavy cream!

Unless you're in a hot place, I'd say 3-4 hours at least at room temp. That cream isn't going to go bad easily when mixed with the pudding.

It's inside a cake--that makes it less vulnerable to spoilage, too.

hmmm ... I would think it could stay out a little longer since its cold right now ... 2-4 hours seems like that would be in the summer. I say a little longer then that.

I wouldn't leave it out for more that 6hrs just to be safe. I am guessing it is not that hot where you are so it should be fine.

If you are out of space in the refrigerator (and depending on where you live) you can put the cake out in the garage if it's unheated like mine is. I would say you could also put it out in the car for the night, but it might freeze.

Just some thoughts.

No it is far from being warm here, lucky if we hit 20 degrees during the day! Okay now you all got me thinking about storage for the overnight, friday to sat! I plan on using chocolate clay for a covering on this cake. It is going to be a three teired cake too, so I was going to decorate it and than assemble on site. Will the chocolate clay be okay in the car over night? I would put it in my unheated garage but we have mice and I dont want to chance it! If I do put it in my car over night how long at room temp before it is edible? The party starts at 1pm so I don't think we would have cake until around 330pm . I was planning on taking th ecake to the site without any kids in tow. So any help on all my questions one more time I would appericate it!
