I am making a cake using the 1/2 crisco 1/2 butter recipe. The lady calle dand cancelled her request for rasberry in it b/c she doesn't want to have to refrigerate it. Does anyone know how long this kind of BC will last unrefrigerated? Thanks!

What are you using as the raspberry flavor? jam/jelly? flavoring? pureed raspberries? raspberry syrup? That will make a difference. Regular 1/2 crisco 1/2 butter can stay out of the fridge for at least a day or two or three. (I've had leftovers out that long w/ no probs.)

Mine lasts 1-2 weeks covered on the counter if I can keep DH out of it! But you have to stir it really good before you go to use it and you may need to add some milk to rehydrate it...

Well, she said she doesn't want the rasberry because of the refrigeration factor, so I am going just use the buttercream as the filling. I just need to make sure that it can sit out with the real butter in it, otherwise I will just use the Wilton BC recipe. Thanks!

The rasberry filling would have been the kind you buy at a cake store in the plastic sleeve thingy.

That raspberry filling in the sleeve can sit out w/out refrigeration so she can still have the raspberry if she wants.

There has been a lot of discussion in different forums about the butter sitting out but with so much sugar in the BC recipe, the sugar acts as a preservative so there is no problem at all leaving it out.

Hmmm. interesting about the filling. The lady at the cake place said it needs to be refirigerated after opening. I guess she just means to keep it fresh.

I have kept my decorated sheet cake, no fillings out for 5 days or as long as the cake lasted with 3 kids around and a husband who will eat cake for breakfast
buttercream is the 1/2 butter 1/2 crisco --- it is the only kind I use
