For cookies that is for making shaped cookies. I have used this recipe before but I made the caterpillar cookies (in my photos), so I followed the directions. But this time I rolled the cookie dough out and used a cutter on it. I was worried that they were going to get misshaped like some other sugar cookies do. But to my surprise these did not misshape, not that I can tell. I even did a few with scalloped edges and they were very noticable. And the cookies taste great. Not overly sweet just enough to curve that sweet taste you want! The cookie kinda crumbs in your mouth. My husband fell in love with these about a month ago. So for his vday present that is what he is getting, I am surprising him with cookies after dinner! He loves something sweet after dinner!

Yes I will share the recipe! I got it from a cookie cookbook called Cookies for all Occasions.
Kid's cookie Dough
1 cup butter
2tspn vanilla
1/2 cup of PS
2 1/4 cup flour
1/4 teaspoon salt

It says to grease cookie ( I don't have done on parchment paper and the sheet doesnt stick)
Beat butter & vanilla until fluffy. Add sugar beat until blended. Add flour and salt gradually to well blened. ( I have to scrape the side & bottom of bowl before I finish mixing).
You can form these into balls or whatever shape. Bake 15-18 mins or until edges are lightly browned. The cookies I just did I cooked them for about 6-9 mins. Decorate as desired. Let me know how you all like them.

Yes I colored my dough, I also did purple ones too! I guess I should also add that the dough is very fragile! Before and after cooking them. I didn't try it but I did think about putting them in the fridge to harden before I moved them around but I managed to just do it at room temp with my metal spatula! Like I said the when they are cooked and you eat them they are crumble in your mouth, they do it before and after so if you try them just remember that!

How do you color your dough? Do you just use the coloring for frosting or for candy or even food dye?

I've never thought about colouring cookie dough before. What a great idea. I don't care RI or fondant covered cookies. I'd much rather eat a plain sugar cookie. I might have to try that! icon_biggrin.gif

coloring your dough and then just sprinke with crystal sanding sugar will give you a very pretty cookie!
