Have you ever tried the Nestle recipe? It's on the back of their chocolate chip packages....soooo good!! I almost know it by heart -

1 cup butter/margarine (2 sticks)
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 light brown sugar, packed
1 tsp vanilla
2 eggs
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
2 3/4 cups all purpose flour
1 pkg chocolate chips
Nuts - pecans, walnuts, etc. (optional)

Combine salt, baking soda and flour in a bowl & set aside.

Cream butter, both sugars & vanilla until "fluffy". Add eggs one at a time, mixing well until combined. Slowly add the dry ingredients, mixing well until combined. Stir in chocolate morsels and nuts, if desired.

Drop onto ungreased cookie sheet in rounded teaspoonfuls (I use a tablespoon) 2 inches apart. Bake in a 375 degree oven 8-13 minutes, depending on desired doneness...8 minutes=softer, chewier cookie, 13 minutes=firmer, crispier cookie.

***I'm pretty sure that's the recipe....lol. Made it soooo many times since I was about 12!! icon_rolleyes.gif Don't think I left anything out, but check the back of the bag first, just in case!! I usually add a teensy bit more vanilla...and if you want a really chunky cookie, add more morsels & nuts than what it calls for. Also - sometimes if I'm out of choc. chips but have baking chocolate squares or blocks on hand, I just chop those up roughly....everyone raves because they get big hunks of chocolate in almost every bite! I don't even use my mixer for these...just a fork. I set out my butter on the counter until it's soft and it works great! I found that for some reason the mixer just overworks it a little bit. The way I do it, the cookies come out nice and tender and moist, without being cakey - which can happen when you overwork the dough after adding the flour, it develops the gluten more, therefore fluffier and cakier.

Hope this helps! icon_smile.gif

**edited to add: If anyone notices something I left out or stated incorrectly, please correct me!!! lol I am a mother of 3, after all! icon_rolleyes.gif

Cake mix cookies!!! Super fast and easy. Makes a soft gooey cookie.
1 box cake mix (I personally prefer Pillsbury chocolate)
2 eggs
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 1/2 cups chocolate chips (or more icon_lol.gif)
Mix together all the ingredients.
Place on cookie sheets lined with aluminum foil.
Bake 9-12 minutes in preheated 350F oven.
Makes 2 dozen cookies.

Yummy!

I have the recipe in front of me and everything is exact except it says 2 1/4 cups of flour.....

I got a magazine from Nestle today and it has some really good looking recipes in it...you can go to www.verybestbaking.com to request a copy.

You did way better from memory than I would have. I would surely have forgotten a key ingredient and I don't have any kids, just that old age disease...
