Hi everyone, this is my first post on Cake Central....so please bear with me!
I am a culinary student....(possibly going back for pastry once I'm done with culinary).
My little cousin passed away a couple weeks ago....He loved cake! I wanted to make a special cake in tribute to him for Thanksgiving (I think my aunt and uncle would appreciate the thought) but I am having trouble coming up with ideas.....
He was mentally disabled, so he was a bit behind his age.....very sweet and happy boy, touched so many lives....
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

First let me tell you how sorry I am for your loss.

Something Whimsical comes to mind, lots of colors if he loved colors or anything in particular.
Our son-in-law is developmentally delayed, as is our daughter...long story...but he just loves Garfield. He does have a great sense of humor, did your nephew? If he did, think of something in particular that really tickled him.
Good luck and please post a pic when you have finished it.

Okay, first off....how many people will you be feeding? What were some of things that he liked most? Favorite shows, toys, etc.

I think that this is a very sweet thing for you to do and I too am sure that your aunt and uncle would be very touched by your gesture.

BTW, welcome to CC.

I am so sorry to hear about your cousin. I think it is a wonderful idea to make a cake for him. How about his fav. flavor decorated with all the things he loved or made him smile or the things he did to make you all smile? It sounds as if he was pretty special, and I'm sure your cake will be too. My thoughts are with you and your family.

Do you have any photos that you could make an image cake. You could even do an assortment of photos of him. I think making his favorite flavor would be a great idea.

I am so sorry for your loss and I am sure your aunt and uncle will appreciate this.

I am so sorry for your family's loss. I know first hand that the loss of a child is something you never get over!

What came to my mind first is a cake that says all of the things that your family is thankful for..for the time you had with your cousin.....all the memories that you have from experiences you shared with him..a collage of his favorite things or photos Something along those lines.
