Instead of a silk ribbon, I need to make a fondant ribbon border around the bottom of square tiers.
Any tips? I'm not sure how to cut them nice and strait and would like any tips or tricks?

I use a rotary cutter and a straight edge to create ribbons from fondant or gumpaste. I let them set a little while before I put them on so they're not so pliable that they stretch when I lift them from the worktable.

I hope that helps!!!

Depending on the width, I use a ruler (seems to be the standard width that I need) and a pizza cutter on each side. I also let it sit a while to let it firm so that it doesn't stretch when I move it. I like to brush it with a matching dust mixed with vodka to give it a ribbon like shine. (after it is applied) The vodka dries faster than water. Good luck!

Wilton has a perfect little tool that i use. I think its called the fondant cutter. Wilton makes two types of fondant cutters. One is a small tool with three different cutters but The one i'm talking about is more like a roller with a bunch of different cutter wheels. you can adjust the size you want and also how many strips you want to cut. you can put the cutters 1/4in., 1/2in., 3/4in. or 1 inch apart and cut 2 or 3 at the same time. all the exact same width and perfectly straight.
