I am in need of a recipe for milk chocolate buttercream icing. I have a dark chocolate one made with nestles syrup but it is too chocolatey and the person that wants the cake wants milk chocolate. Can anyone help.

how about chocolate italian meringue buttercream? does the customer definitely want milk chocolate, b/c i would think that would be too sweet. maybe use semi-sweet chocolate instead? the choc ital mer bc with semi-sweet morsels was very good, but sweet enough (at least for me!)
good luck!

I use my regular BC recipe (made with 1/2 butter and 1/2 shortening), and then add dry cocoa powder. If I want light chocolate I use less.....dark...more. It's wonderful and I get rave reviews from using it.

I have never tried this recipie to decorate with, but it does have a nice flavor, and you could adjust the consistency by adding more or less whipping cream.
Milk Chocolate Frosting
1/2 c BUTTER, room temperature
1/4 c unsweetened cocoa powder, sifted
2 c powedered sugar
3 Tbl whipping cream (more if needed)

mix until creamy and smooth, adding more cream as necessary.

Good luck

Thanks everyone I will try a few of your suggestions and see how they turn out.

I really am interested in 2508s42's suggestion with the whip cream.
Katy625 that sounds good but a lot of work might try that another time.
The customer doesn't like the taste of dark chocolate but doesn't mind the light chocolate flavor or as she called it milk chocolate.

Thanks if anyone has any other suggestions I am open

I too use bc and then add wilton candy melts to it. It kinda makes icing melt in you mouth.

That is what I do too! I add 2 oz of cocoa powder (and a little extra liquid) to each batch of BC. You could add more to taste if you wanted to!
