I have been decorating for two years now and have accumulated a large collection of pans and other tools. Storage in my kitchen is out of the question, so I have shelves in my laundry room where everything is organized into clear plastic boxes that are labeled so I can quickly find them.

One problem I have is with storing my rolls of foil cake-board covering. The edges seem to get crumpled so easily. Any suggestions?

Also, I have the tall-tier cake stand (six tiers) from Wilton. The bottom plate is 18" across. The box it came in was damaged, and I just can't find a plastic box that is 18" across. Can anyone think of some way I can store this.

I would welcome any creative ideas for storing cake stuff so we can all benefit!

Thanks,

Sammy

I truly have nothing that can help you. But I am extremely interested in finding out what other people have to say. I have been looking for something myself.

The only thing I can think of for the rolls of foil is one of the wrapping paper storage boxes. You could probably find them real easily right now this close to the holidays. I can't think of anything for the cake stands.

How about a wreath storage container for the cake stand?

Don't laugh, but you can store your rolls inside an empty gift wrap roll. You can tape the end and even cut off a bit and make a cap to fit. My mom did this for my dowel rods and it works perfectly!! My Wilton instructor even loved the idea!! You could even write on the outside what color foil wrap you have inside (if you have more than one color).

Also for the foil wrap -- a builder's plan holder. We have one here in our office and it works great. The wrapping paper holder has a lid on it though which would prevent any dust and dirt.

I did recently find a rubbermaid tote at Lowe's (home imp store) that was 19.6" (or something like that) tall that fit my 18" cake plate. I use 2 rubbermaid totes for my pans, plates, boards, etc and one smaller tote that has my tip box, tablecloth, smooth paper towels, smaller stuff.

you can get poster containers at poster stores (and sometimes craft stores) too. They are cylindrical and will keep the foil rolls safe.

I have the gift roll storage container and it is great.

For the plate storage problem; get an empty box from the store and cut to size and height.

For my most used pans, I have one of those small chest that sit on the floor.
