I have a recipe that calls for 4.5lbs of sugar, 4.5 lbs of butter and 1 quart of egg whites. can some one tell me what this is in tsps, tbls, or cups?
Butter (each stick is 1/4 of a pound) = 18 sticks
Egg Whites usually an egg white from 1 large egg is almost 1 ounce. 1 quart = 24 ounces = 24 or so eggs.
I'm not sure about the sugar but 4 cups of powdered sugar = 1 lb.

Here's a link to a good conversion chart.
http://www.culinarycafe.com/UK_US.html
4.5 lb sugar = 72 oz sugar.
7 oz sugar = 1 cup, so 72 oz would be just a bit less than 10 1/2 cups.
1 lb butter = 2 cups
4.5 lb butter = 9 cups
1 qt = 4 cups, so you need 4 cups of egg whites.
Wow..what kind of cake is this?
Here is what I come up with:
10.3 cups sugar
9c. butter
3 & 3/4 c. egg whites
buying a scale might be easeri . You're measuments will be more accurate with a scale.
What are you making?
some one gave me a recipe for italian cream icing so i will not make this much icing but i needed to know what the measurements were before i could half them or it looks to me even 1/4 them so i will do
2.5c of sugar
2 1/4c butter
about 1c of egg whites
is this right?
