Hi there,

I am in the market for a stand mixer, and have been looking at all the different ones... but I was hoping that I could get some information about the different speeds and power. I am looking at theKitchenaid 250 Watt, 4.5 quart mixer, but can't help wondering if I will need a more powerful one?

My sis has the Kitchenaid Classic with 175 Watts, which she uses about 2 times a week. And she loves it.....I just completed my first cake deco course, and am taking the 2nd level in December. Right now, I am only making buttercream icing, as I am really new to the hobby but know that this will change as soon as I get a more powerful mixer icon_smile.gif

The 25 year-old hand held that I am using now just doesn't cut it! )and, I don't think the 5 year warranty it boasts is still valid ...icon_lol.gif
So, will the 250 W be powerful enough, or should I spend the $75 extra and get the 300 W?

How do you feel about your KA, and is it powerful enough?

here is a link to kitchen aid. I have the professional 6, which I love. I make cookies, cakes, brownies, etc. with it. It will depend on what you need and can afford.

If you have a Kohls nearby you, they are having a sale (I think its still on) that covers all their small appliances and they carry kitchenaid. I just got for myself a 450w 5qt (wide-mouth bowl) priced just under 300$usd. If you know someone with a Kohls card, they should also have a 30% off coupon. Because of this coupon, I got the mixer for about 201$usd. Once I sell my other one to my sister, it will have cost me less!!

Also right now on kohls.com they have a great shipping deal....spend $75 or more and get free shipping (still have to pay a shipping surcharge though for big items) or $0.99 per item if pre-tax total is under $75...so if you buy a stand mixer today online you would only have to pay the shipping surcharge for the handling of such a large bulky item...that's how I got mine!
The holiday shopping season is when Kohls has the mixers on sale the most!
