I'm baking cookies early this evening for valentine party tomorrow afternoon. I don't think I have enough time for frosting to set do I?? If so, which one?

Can you recommend a nice frosting to go with NFSC? Is there a nice buttercream or ? to decorate with. I don't need a hard, shiny finish. Just yummy to frost and pipe with.

TIA!

Antonias frosting will set over night and you can outline and fill in all at the same time.Check out her cookie tutorial in the article section!!

As long as you aren't planning on stacking or bagging them you could just use buttervream. If the royal icing doesn't have time to fully set it doesn't taste very good when you bite into it.

If your looking for fast and easy, cut out MMF with the same cookie cutter and place it on the NFSC as it comes out of the oven. If really fast--Decorate with candy melts, or stamp with dilute americolors and a new chunky foam stamp. You can bag up cookies as soon as your done. There are a few examples in my pics.

I just made several Valentine cookie bouquets and did not want all the hard work of royal icing so I used candy clay. It tastes really good, is easy to work with and is a snap to put on cookies. I did a little bit of detailing with cookie glace. I am really happy with how they turned out and it was so much easier than royal, although I still love royal when I have time!

I had a lot of success with rolled buttercream. There are several threads that discuss helpful tips (i.e. - put the cut outs in the freezer for a couple of minutes before placing them on the cookies).

I did this with heart shaped cookies then drizzled chocolate over the top. It was easy and looked gourmet.
