I want to do something fun for my husband's 1st year anniversary of his conversion to Judaism. I was thinking of doing a first b-day type cake, but I'm not sure. He turns 40 this year so I thought something "young" would be cute. There isn't a particular tradition for a first b-day in Judaism so there really isn't any specific item that is striking my fancy, although I could do a Picture book type cake with the Hebrew Alphabet.

He appreciates a good joke so I'd love to do something really fun.

Mazel Tov!

First the cute-sy idea - Bar Mitzvah or Bust! for a saying on the cake, with an FBCT of a yarmulke and a Talis on it. Hey, if Henny Youngman can finally do his Bar Mitzvah at 84 years old, there is no reason why your husband can't!

Now for the naughty idea - how about a cake that says "You're never too old to be Brissed!" with appropriate props or shaped like a long knife?

I know, I'm being bad. But would you want me any other way?

Alright Theresa that 2nd one is too funny!!!! Unfortunately I have this image of all the men cringing and the women turning beet red!! Besides, he had to have a "bris dam", drop of blood drawn from that "area" to convert, so I don't know if he will want to be reminded of that!! icon_wink.gif

The first one has possibilities, though. I know he plans to learn his portion and read it on the appropriate Shabbos, but that is a long way off still.

Any other ideas are still welcome!!

Thanks,
Kathi

Glad I made you both laugh. Sorry about the screen.

Is he really going to do the Bar Mitzvah? Good for him. Why do anything if you are not going to do it all the way, right?

If I think of anything a little milder, I will let you know.
