Baby Blocks

I am doing a baby shower cake and was going to put blocks on the top of a sheet cake. I am not quite sure how to make the blocks. Any suggestions would be welcomed with open arms!! Thanks!

what I have seen was blocks carved from a 9x13..I think they were 3 layers high, 4 maybe, with a crumb coating, then iced however...I have seen all types from fondant covered to rolled buttercream to regular bc to a thick thick royal...

You could also make them from a pound cake...either store bought or homemade. The loaf shape and dense cake make them really easy to cut out. Depending on the size you need, you may not even have to layer them.

...you could even do the blocks out of rice krispy treats, that you shape into squares. Just a thought!

Thank you all so much. I gave up on the block thing. Ran out of time. SO I just made the cake look like a book and made it like a baby book and drew the blocks on. I will keep all this info in mind being that I have to make another baby shower cake next week!!! I think I might try the rice krispies!! icon_lol.gif
