I am doing a baby shower cake for this Saturday that is 12 x 18. The cake boxes at Michael's aren't big enough, and I didn't see any at Target large enough either. Does anyone know where I can find a box big enough to hold this cake? The boards I bought are 13 x 19, so I'm guessing I'd need a 14 x 20 box. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I've seen some suggestions that a clear rubbermaid box works really good. You put the cake on the lid and then put the bottom on the top. They make them about 1/2 foot to 3/4 foot tall and they fit perfectly over the cakes.

This won't help you for Saturday, but I order most of my boxes from Country Kitchen. Good Luck.

What about tall boxes? I am doing a tiered cake soon. I will be transporting the two bottom tiers already assembled and then adding the 3rd tier there. There are boxes for the top tier which is for the brides cake. Does anyone know if they make a cake box at least 16 in square and 10 high? All I can find is 16x16x6.

Hi,

Hobby Lobby makes one that is 14x19. I have used it for a 12x18 cake and just trimmed the edges of the cake boards so it will just slide in. HTH! icon_smile.gif

is there a cake specialty store around you? we have something here called cake creations or something like that and then there is a "Ben Franklin" and I have found big boxes there, though I have never bought any yet.....

For tiered cakes or taller cakes I prefer to use plastic containers like rubbermaid. Most have handles-great when the item is heavy! so much easier to carry. Check your local wal-mart, target, etc....

I make sure to get my container quite a bit larger than the board it self. Then put down the non-skid shelf liner across the entire bottom, then the cake on top. I personally dont' like putting it on the lid b/c some of the lids can be a little weak.

Hope this helps and good luck.

When I have orders for 12 x 18 sheet cakes, I always visit the local grocery store bakery and they will sell me the lid, cake board, and bottom. I just ask for a full sheet cake box. You might give your local store a call and ask them in the bakery if they would sell one. Hope this helps. Good luck

in a pinch you can use a bankers box that comes with a lid, available at your local business/office supply store. tape the lid so it's secure at its joints, and invert the box -- you'll probably notice that the bottom flap drops, so tape this up. put your cake in the inverted lid (like a tray) and invert the box on top, sliding it into the lid. you can tape it shut if you like. be sure, whether it's taped shut or not, to carry the box from the bottom & sides, so the cake is supported. the larger boxes will accomodate quite large boards (at least 1/4 slabs or larger) and very tall cakes (excellent for 3-D cakes). thumbs_up.gif

I use the container from Wal-Mart if I don't have a box on hand, just let the customer know to carry the container under the bottom because of the lid being the bottom.

Also, finally found a container tall enough to carry a stacked cake in from Wal-Mart and the 3D stacked cakes fit wonderfully.

Stephanie,
What kind of box did you find at Walmart for staked cakes?
