Am I The Only One Without A Kitchenaid Mixer???

I have a Sunbeam and I love it...It's not as high tech as the Kitchenaid, but it works great. I bought it last year around Christmas because I was making so many cookies. It's very powerful and was much less expensive. I looks really retro, like your grandmother's mixer...
Anyone else have a Sunbeam???
No I dont have one either....but I am supposed to get one for Christmas this year.
My Mom has a Sunbeam, and sorry, but it doesn't even come close to my KA. Never in a million years would she even think about doing bread in her SB (which I do in my KA.)
However, she doesn't bake that often, and never large batches, so it fits her needs just fine. (Note... when she bought a food processor last year, she bought a KA brand becasue she used my mixer... once)
You're right about the price... the KA is going to give you a little sticker shock ![]()
I have heard a lot of wonderful things about the Kitchenaid, but I was on a budget so I had to go for the less expensive one...It's a 5 qt and has a very powerful motor....I have not had any problems with it and I use it all the time...I made about 100 dozen cookies with it last year and plan to do the same this year...
When I have the money to upgrade I'm going right for the Viking!!! I would love to have a whole kitchen full of Viking appliances, especially the stove!!!
Viking is another popular, high end brand....Very expensive, but I've heard worth it...7 qt mixer is 500.00....The stoves are over the top expensive, but when I retire, that is on my list....
Will have to settle for daydreaming for now and fire up that Sunbeam...One for sure thing I can say is this---I will never go back to hand mixers!!! Hands-free mixing is the only way to go.
No KA here either. I have a Kenmore 400w and love it! DH bought it for me (thinking a mixer is a mixer o'well I am saving some cash) I was scared at first but it has proven to be great! I don't do ALOT of baking-about 2 or 3 cakes a week so it suits my needs just fine. It also accepts all of the KA accessories.
I don't have one either...I just bought my first hands-free mixer...it's a wolfgang puck brand...700 watts, burgundy color, bought on e-bay for $100, including shipping! Original price was $200 on qvc. I don't do alot of cakes like alot of you here so this meets my needs...main thing is that my motor didn't burn up when I tried to make royal icing (burnt thru 2 hand mixers & the sun beam (350 watts, I think?) I did buy started smoking the very first day I used it, so I returned it)...
I have an old sunbean, my grandmother bought when I was a little girl and I use it to make all my cakes and icing. It works just fine for me, I don't even know what model it is but, I do know it's from the late 80s!
cindy,
I just replaced my my old great sunbeam with a KA 2 months ago. I loved my sunbeam but since I found a KA for $79.99 (refirbished) (sp?) I went with it! It is a dream, smooth and sweet. Although I would never talk bad about my wonderful sunbeam either, it did me well for many years. Anyone need a good used sunbeam LOL?

Me too ![]()
that is sooo funny!!
I would like to get somthing else but not until after christmas !
My hubby just bought me one yesterday for my birthday. It's a Black KitchenAid Artisian. All of my other kitchen appliances and gadgets are black, so it fits right in with everything else. I kept going into the kitchen last night just to look at it. ![]()
Weezer
I had a 7q kenmore in my shop along with my 4 1/2 q Ka...
I worked them both the same..unfortunately I only salvaged the KA..
boo hoo
Now I need a bigger mixer!
When I do purchase a new mixer. What KA do you suggest?
mvigil, I'm glad I'm not the only one.....LOL!
MissM... there are several threads on that very topic ... basically most of us recommend get as big as you can afford.
... there are 2 numbers to watch for... bowl size (in quarts) and motor power (in watts) Every bowl size is available in a couple of wattages so make sure you're comparing apples to apples!
... there are a bunch of colours... but white & black tend to be a little cheaper than the other colours within each model
... the smaller units are available as tilt-head, the larger as raised-bowl style... and some in the middle as one or the other I think) Personal preference for that... go to a store that has both and play if you can!

WHAT YOU HAVE A NEW KA FOR A FEW MONTHS AND HAVEN'T OPENED IT YET?!?!?!?!
Are you crazy? Get to baking!!
I wouldn't have one if - miracle of miracles - I hadn't found an old one at the thrift store. Unfortunately it's around 40 years old and only 200 watts, a 4 quart bowl and only one mixing attachment which is a whisk/paddle hybrid. It leaves much to be desired - like I would love to make bread or a double batch of cookies or cake - but I still love it. DH said I could get a KA Pro 600 if I could find one for $200 on ebay, so I'm looking and bidding.
I've also considered a DeLonghi, which has a 7 qt bowl and 700-800 watts, but they're even more expensive.
Found one that's labeled Rival, who made them before DeLonghi took them over, but not sure about the quality, especially if it's a plastic body.
Anybody know anything about those?
I dont have one as of yet, I would really like one, but the price has stopped me a few times.
I don't have a KA but I'd love too. Right now I have a Sunbeam & my MIL is supposed to get me a nicer stand mixer for Christmas - but not a KA! Maybe one day!
