but, is it just me or does anyone else here dream of cakes? I mean literally dream about cakes! Lately my dreams have been about different ways to do cakes, or designs for cakes, ect. In my defense, I will say I've been trying new techniques out lately, but I'm not sure if I might need some help icon_redface.gif I was just wondering if anyone else out there has this same 'condition' and if I should worry about it or not icon_lol.gif

I do! Actually, Friday night I was watching Ace of Cakes, and during the night I had a dream about Duff! And it was a very naughty dream. icon_redface.gif
My husband laughed when I told him. He said instead of dreaming about Brad Pitt or Antonio Banderas, it's Duff, the cake decorator. icon_razz.gif

I do it all the time...all the time. I've gotten some good ideas that way, or figured out how to do a cake I've been struggling with. Sometimes, I've gotten up to write ideas. Crazy? Nah. Just excited.
This morning, my husband said to me..."We should have a chocolate cake in bed morning soon." (We had one for breakfast in bed in our honeymoon phase, years ago. Sigh.)
I thought he said "Chocolate bed in cake" and a couple minutes later, I had already planned out how to make a bed cake out of chocolate.

Which I will do for Valentine's Day if I can finish the 300 strawberries I have for orders that day.

I do that with anything I am doing a lot of. If it is scrapbooking I scrap in my dreams, if it is a game I am hooked on I play it all night long in my dreams. Cake decorating is no different. If I am reading a book that is long or a series of books I dream about those all night long. So as far as I am concerned you are normal in my book. icon_lol.gif

Whew! I'm sooooo glad it's not just me! I was beginning to think I belonged in a nuthouse! My DH already thinks that- last night I had a dream that gave me a very good idea, I woke up and sketched it out and he was like "What are you doing? It's 2:00 am!" Oh well, I guess I'll take inspiration however it comes! icon_biggrin.gif

It actually helps me to fall asleep if I think about cakes.... which then leads to dreaming about cakes. I guess it just relaxes me. icon_redface.gif

My confession, I dream of them too.... I have this little theory about my hard cakes... if I know they are going to be tough on me, I dream about them for like 3 nights before they are due, and OMG forget the night before, no rest for the weary.. then the other day I did a Lightning McQueen car for a little boy at my daughter's preschool, and for some reason my DH wanted to watch the movie that night... so of course, I had already made the cake and then watched the movie and what did I dream of all night, that stupid red car...... It drives me insane... sometimes my dreams are good ones, like ideas and things like that but most of the time it is nightmares of them falling apart and not working out right!

I dreamt the other night that I FORGOT to make the wedding cake for my best friend and it was an hour before the wedding when I realized! Yikes! I think it's the anticipation.

now i'm not saying that i dont dream of cakes as well!!...but recently i can across something. Apparently if u have a glass of milk (or something dairy) before bed u will dream more realistic, that is to say u will dream of what is on ur mind during the day more. I have not had a glass of milk past 9pm (mind u im in bed by 2am) and no more dreams!!!! it has been almost a month now, and i still sleep silently!!

Now if u want to dream...go on and pour that glass of milk before u go to sleep!!!

Alickert, I have also dreamed that I forgot to do a wedding cake and then remembered just moments before the wedding! How funny.

I dream about cakes when I have a lot going on at once and I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to get it all done. It always works out though in the end.

We may be addicts, but we're not crazy!

Me too! When I did the "one and ONLY" wedding cake for a REAL client....3 WEEKS before the wedding; cake! cake! cake! and NO SLEEP!! Whew! I was EXHAUSTED by the time I got the cake done!

But, SOMETIMES, it's a real help. A couple of weeks ago I was trying to come up with an idea for our Pastor's going away dinner. Went to sleep....dreamed about it....VOILA!! Cake decorating solved!

We are a "unique" group aren't we? LOL

Are you dreaming of pillows? icon_wink.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gif I usually dream about designs when I really need to come up with one. Sometimes they help, but usually not.

I also dreamed that I forgot a cake icon_surprised.gif . But this morning I watched parts of the NBC Today Show and as they were beginning a segment I caught a glimpse of one of their large cameras and thought, "that camera base looks like a wedding cake icon_surprised.gif ". So - no dreams - just strange visions/illusions.

Ha! You got me! Those pillows are driving me crazy! But, I have also dreamed that I forgot a cake for a big event...that's not a fun dream to have. Right now I'm planning my best friend's 40th birthday party (a surprise) The theme is pink and brown, and I swear, my dreams are all in pink and brown! icon_wink.gif

Just had one last night. Although, it wasn't exactly about cake, it was about buttercream frosting and dirty dishes.

I don't necessarily dream of cakes. Instead, I end up laying in bed till the wee hours of the night obsessing about design elements, organization and planning when it's for a big event etc. I WISH it would all come to me in a dream!

wheewww.......so glad I'M not the only cake dreamer around here!! icon_razz.gificon_razz.gif I am even DAY dreaming about cakes, EVERYTHING I see seems to be "inspiration" ....custom designing cakes is my dream come true.....but it is definately ALL CONSUMING at times. (okay, most times) Combine that with "brain swirls" for new "signature" recipes for cakes, pies, & cheesecakes (scratch..all natural...no preservatives blah blah blah) & confections, it's a miracle I can even converse with my DH, nevermind the general public! icon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gif That's okay though...what I do is MY slice of heaven!! I almost thought of renaming my business......
