Ok, I have a dilemma (or so i think, or hope not) I have some orders for Valentine cookie bouquets and the closest thing to a cake store around here is Walmart
So I went to their cake decorating section and they had lollipop sticks (white) instead of the cookie one's (wood) My question is will my cookies be too heavy for these sticks? I am making sugar and chocolate chip. Also will I have a problem with my cookies not sticking to the stick?? Please any info will help thanks ![]()

I only use the lollipop sticks, so I think they'll be fine.
I used the lollipop sticks for the first time yesterday and while they work, I do not like them. I too had a problem with the cookies not sticking to the stick. I much prefer skewers but I was all out. The cookies will not be too heavy for the lollipop sticks unless your cookies are really big. I made some pretty big heart cookies (in my photos) and the sticks are holding them fine.
I too use the lollipop sticks for my 4" cookies and they work fine!
Maybe you could go to the grocery store and pick up some bamboo skewers. I used to use the lollipop sticks all the time and then I started using the skewers and haven't looked back. If lollipop is all you can get, you shouldn't have a problem though. ![]()
I use lollipop sticks as well with no problems. I put them in before baking and sometimes immediately afterwards.
I use 1/8 inch wooden shish-kabob skewers. I put them in right after the cookies come out of the oven. I lay one skewer down at bottom of cookie and then lay the skewer I want to insert in the cookie on top of it and push in. This helps me have the skewer in the middle of cookie. I make my cookies about 7/16 inch thick. (When I roll the dough out I tape two wooden spoons down and once my rolling pin hits them my dough is at the appropiate thickness. I recent found some excellent cookie recipes for cookies on a stick. (In the past the recipes had too much flour.--If you would like them just email me at [email protected] with recipe in subject line.)
