Ok, so we are having a Chili cook off activity with our Church Saturday. Im bringing a dessert, so what else but a cake.. duh LOL

I need some ideas! What would go good for a chili cook off-- I was thinking along the lines of a cowboy/farm/country type theme..... but really Im up for any suggestions! I want this cake to be awesome.... as it will be seen by a lot of people.

I think a cowboy/western theme is a good idea.
Or... what about a cake that looks like a big pot o' steamin' chili?

When I think of chili, southwest images come to mind, such as native american designs, flower blooming cactus, beautiful sunset colors, desert colors, sombrero, adobe house.....or Texas images, longhorn, cowboy hat, rope, hot chili peppers, lonestar, just a few off the top of my head. I hope you make a chocolate cake...when I was a kid, my FAVORITE school lunch was chili served with not one but two deserts, chocolate cake and strawberry jello....YUMMMMM. Good luck with your design.

I was planning on chocolate cake... with oreo filling.

Thanks for the ideas... Im leaning towards the cowboy hat thing, but don't want to do a whole cowboy hat cake... so im thinking of making a small cowboy hat to sit on top of the cake... maybe a nice fence around the side, and cow print? LOL

You can always make the bright red chili peppers to add color. Good luck.

Some people here seem to have such wonderful talent for making the red. Bless their hearts.
