here is a recipe that I found searching the web...but have not tried it. Wanting to though!
1 cup shortening
1 cup corn syrup
1 teaspoon clear vanilla
several drops (or more) of flavoring of your choice
6 to 7 cups confectioners' sugar
Beat shortening in mixer until smooth and creamy. Add corn syrup and desired flavorings. Blend together. Add 2 to 3 cups sugar to the shortening mixture. Knead in enough of the remaining sugar to make a flexible dough-like mixture. Like fondants, wrap well and cover so it does not dry out.
I added a little more sugar when kneading this, because I thought it was a little soft. It will work just be patient with it. I am going to add a little bit of rolled fondant to it next time maybe a 1/4 of fondant to the full mixture of rolled buttercream.
Here is a link to a recipe for rolled buttercream, on this website...if you try it, let us know what you think!

ok, thank you mrsmissey and kmc...so does this get hard? i have never used the fondant, yet..but i know people say they usually do not care for the taste. do you know if the rolled butter cream taste good? and also, do you have to put regular buttercream icing underneath?
Yes, you use buttercream under the fonant. Smooth the buttercream well also, the fondant will show all the hills and valleys under it.
I don't like the taste of the wilton fondant. I have just tried marshmallow fondant. It is so easy and it tastes a lot like buttercream if you flavor it just right.
16oz bag of marshmallows
2lbs confectionary sugar
2T water
1tsp vanilla
1tsp butter flavoring
sift half of confectionary sugar into a well greased mixer bowl. make a well in the center.
place marshmallows water and flavoring in a well greased glass bowl and microvave on high for 1 min. if marshmallows have not completely melted mictrowave again for 30 sec. repeat as necessary until all have melted. pour marshmallow mixture into the well of sugar and mix using the paddle attachment until well mixed. sift in the remaining sugar and mix using the bread hook. wrap well removing all air and let cool (couple of hours at least.)
good luck
Ken
