I am doing a 50th anniversary cake this fall and they would like me to replicate the couples original wedding cake as closely as possible. The cake appears to have sugar doves and roses on it. They are flat on one side and attached to the side of the cake. I was able to find the doves at Sugar Craft. Does anyone have any suggestions of other places I could find these sugar layons? Thanks.
I don't know where you can buy premade, but you can make them yourself very easily with just a candy mold, some sugar, and pasteurized egg whites. You just mix 2 cups of superfine sugar with a couple tablespoons egg whites until it resembles wet sand, then press it into the mold firmly, turn them out, and allow to dry. They are very quick and extremely inexpensive.
