I have a request for Wednesday to do a chocolate cake with chocolate roses. Does anyone have a good and easy recipe for icing to do chocolate roses. My chocolate icing recipe is way to fudgy to make roses out of.

Thanks in advance.

I add cocoa to my buttercream recipe. If I need it dark chocolate I will add brown coloring too.

wilton chocolate buttercream:
1 cup shortening
1 tsp flavor extract
3-4 Tbsp milk or water
1 lb cane sugar
1 Tbsp meringue powder (optinal)
pinch of salt (optional)
3/4 cup cocoa

i've used it before, and it works great. it takes a lot of brown coloring to darken it, but if your cake icing is light brown it would make a great contrast to have some dark roses.

Hi,
Have you ever made roses from Tootsie Rolls? They are really quite easy and if you've done fondant roses, the tootsie roll ones are done exactly the same way and turn out great. I used the same cutters as for the fondant one. I have a pic in my photos of them. Good luck!
