How Do I Cover A Cake Board With Fondant?

Firstly I roll out enough fondout to cover the board then I just brush the cake board with water and then place the fondout on it and trim the edges around the board with a sharp knife. I also do this a couple of days before placing the cake on the board so that the fondout hardens. Good Luck
I'm not usually so well organized as to cover my boards in advance so it usually accurs while I'm in the midst of doing the cake. You just have to be careful as the fondant will be delecate, meaning it will dent and scar easily.
Are you using a cake board or a cake drum? The drum is about 3X the thickness of a board and you can use decorative ribbon to go around it. I favour the drums when I am going to cover the board with fondant. Also to adhere it you could also brush a very thin layer of corn syrup or I have heard of vodka being used as well. If you get any air bubbles prick them on an angle and at the side of the bubble then ever so gently smooth it with your fondant smoother. I also just cut the remains off sort of like trimming the crust on a pie. I hold it up and with a very sharp knife go around the edge and cut off the excess.

Top so there is nothing hanging down at all, it's even with the top of the board only.
I use a very thin layer of BC on the cake board to hold the fondant in place. I don't do this in advance. You can look at my pic of the handbag cake. The board was MMF covered and I did it all at the same time.
