Sort Of A Dumb Question About Cake Boxes.

I tried putting a 10" cake board into a 10" box and it didn't fit! The board was a tiny bit bigger than the base of the box, not much but enough that it wouldn't sit flat in the bottom, so to be on the safe side, get the bigger boxes (plus it gives you room to get your fingers in around the board!).

My question is - in class we were told to put cake on board 2" larger. When making a 9X13 the cake boards are only 10X13 and so are the boxes. You don't have much room for borders and then trying to put in box without hitting sides is impossible. Do they make 11X14 boards and boxes?
Thanks

I just had the same problem with a 12x18 cake. The board was barely big enough and the board fit snugly into the box but I was afraid to carry it since I only had about 1/4 inch from the border to the box.
My cake supply store owner said that is the proper size box to use but it seems odd to me. He said the next size is a full sheet.
