this is the latest request- "a really nice cream cheese icing, but not TOO CHEESEY" icon_mad.gif

So I'm wondering, can I mix buttercream and crusting cream cheese icing for a not so cheesey icing ?
Boy, I'd like to..... icon_redface.gif

TIA for any help on this.

I'm not sure about the mix that you mention, but I have added just a bit of cream cheese into my regular buttercream recipe for the taste of the cream cheese but the decorator quality of my buttercream.

we used a mixture of half buttercream/half cream cheese icing where I worked. It was the most popular icing for wedding cakes... and was called "cream cheese mix". lol

LOL-that has to be one of the funniest requests I've heard in awhile!! I think mixing the two sounds terrific!

Was "cheesy" in reference to the cream cheese or the design icon_smile.gif

Recipies are basically 2 cups fat. So 2 cups Crisco, or 1 cup crisco 1 cup butter, or some mixture thereof... so replace 1/2 cup of whatever with half a package of cream cheese. It is super yummy.

LOL icon_biggrin.gif She just doesn't want the icing to taste too cheesy, but is adamant that she wants only cream cheese icing!?! icon_confused.gif

Thanks to you all for the replies!

The crusting cream cheese icing from this site is good and not too "cheesy".

The shoppe that I used to work at, we ALWAYS mixed our buttercream with the Cream Cheese. The amount of each varied, but it is doable.

I'd mix the two together. She doesn't know what recipe you're using anyway. If she asks, just tell her it's a secret! lo

I really like the crusting cream cheese recipe on this site. I didn't find it to be too cheesey at all. Maybe make it and then mix some with half buttercream and let her taste them both.
