How Much Frosting To Star Tip Top Of 8 Inch Cake?

I'm doing a pattern transfer other than the rainbow so I need to figure out how much frosting I need. The pattern I picked out will cover most of the top of an 8 inch round. Thanks!

I would guess one cup. If I was going to do it I would make 1 1/2 cups to be save. I hate running out of icing.

1 cup sounds about right to me too. i hate trying to figure out how much frosting i need!

icon_lol.gif Me too!! I hate running Out & I have thats why I make a little more than I think I need.

On my one & Only Cupcake cake I ran skimpy on my orange icing icon_cry.gif & I ran low on coloring icon_cry.gif So there was little bald spots. The customer did not notice. icon_wink.gif
