I have been given the opportunity to do the birthday cake for the fire department. It's their 50th anniversary. Obviously this is a BIG deal and I need the cake to be most excellent icon_biggrin.gif .

So I want to do square tiers and keep it with the theme but I don't want it to look like a kids cake. Know what I mean? So I was thinking flames around the bottom tier, middle tier would be fire hydrant/truck maybe a ladder up to the top tier where their emblem will be. Maybe a "50" on top with black, red, and yellow balls of fondant on wire.

I don't know, I am totally having second thoughts. Is this TOO much, too much like a kids cake?

It is being held at the nicest hotel in town and about every "official" will be there. I gotta get this right. Please help with any suggestions, ideas, etc. It is for next Saturday so I need to start on any items that will need to dry. Thanks so much!

A nervous,

Lenette

Try the galleries. They have some great fire dept. cakes. If you don't like one, morph it into a great cake. You will do a great job!
