ok, kind of a dumb question....but what is this stuff. icon_redface.gif I have a couple recipes that call for it and i'm not sure what it is. i've looked around the grocery store, but not sure what i'm looking for.

It is a liquer sold in the liquer stores!!! Tastes like orange I believe!! I have a recipe to make it homemade!!!

grand M is liquor.Its used in Margarita's and other drinks and cakes too
I want to say it's orange flavored

Yes, it's very definately orange liqueur. There is also Cointreau and Triple Sec, but Grand Marnier is sweeter than the others.

THANK YOU!!! I have been driving myself crazy trying to figure out what the heck this stuff was!!! Not much of a drinker...so would never have figured it out!!!

The only one i've tired is triple sec and i love it

Grand Marnier is a triple orange liqueur.

And yes, absolutely... bring on that recipe for the homemade GM!!! icon_biggrin.gif

Sure!!!

Grand Marnier


Finely grated orange zest 1/2 tbsp
(No white pith)
Orange sections 1 Cup
Granulated Sugar 1 Cup
Brown Sugar,packed 1 Cup
Brandy 3/4 Cup


Combine first 4 ingredients in a jar with tight fitting lid.Pour brandy over top.Do not stir.Cover.Let stand at room temperature for 5 weeks.Strain and return to jar.Makes 2 1/3 cups

Just a note, if you don't think you'll use it much, I wouldn't buy GM. It's much more money than some of the others mentioned. Ofcourse, if you use something different the end result will taste slightly different but I'm sure if you use something similar it will still be good.

Is that ever true about the price!!! My husband just got back from the store.....and when he told me the price.... icon_eek.gificon_eek.gif OH MY!!! this stuff better be good!!!

Might have to try the homemade stuff next time!!!
