becomes someone's favorite? Doesn't it make you feel like, "Yep, I got this and people want to make a cake like I made, which means I must have a little skill."

of course, it doesn't necessarily mean that. I know I save cakes that are of similar theme to what Imight want to try and I bookmark things that I feel are within my skill level - which means not too advanced. I like LOOKING at the really spectacular stuff, but I don't bookmark it because I'll never be good enough to make it, but even KNOWING that... I still feel like I'm doing something right when one of my cakes is a "chosen one"! LOL

Anyone else feel that way? I may even have a cake with no comments, but be a favorite of 3-4...

Not everyone will comment on a cake, but if you have a good idea and its implemented well, people will definitely put it in there favorites. Yes, I do get a boost sometimes, especially when its a fav of 3 or more people. Makes you feel good about your work.

Yes, I enjoy that feeling -- it also helps me to figure out what cakes I should put on my web site. Some cakes I think are perfect and wonderful, but they're not very "popular" (for lack of a better word). So it's interesting for me to see which ones become most-favorited! icon_smile.gif

I think it's the greatest form of flattery! Yep, makes me feel like I just got a big pat on the back.

I, too, find it interesting to see which are "popular"...

I also get overwhelmed with happiness when I get a PM and someone asks how I did something or just wanted to comment personally about my cakes. Makes you feel "like your in"! icon_lol.gif A wonderful boost also when you've had a particularly hard/bad day.

I know for me, I've alway been the person who likes to make other people happy (which has led to a lot of heartache too) so I think that's part of it, but also, I'm about as unartistic as they come. I know how things SHOULD look and I can piece things together very well, but if I need really good hand/eye coordination - forget it! So, when I'm "selected" as doing good work on a cake, it makes me feel like an artist a bit - even though it's all faking it! LOL

That's why this site has been great. I'm faking it pretty good to people that I can decorate/draw on cakes with people around me, when really I stink and will NEVER do freehand stuff or sculpt figures.. that is WAY out of my league!

I agree. It does feel great. I love getting comments on my work. I'm usually surprised that people want to same my stuff as their favorites. What's even more surpirsing is when you actually see someone post a copy of something you've made (and give your credit).

BYT, I love your Snoopy gang cake. That was darling.

I love it, too! I am often surprised at the ones that people pick as their favorites. It just goes to show that we all have different tastes! My customers surprise me too on what they choose as their favorites. It's almost NEVER what I would have expected!

I know - I love it too! Like a drug - so proud! Positive feedback is so nice to hear, too bad we don't hear more of it! icon_smile.gif

I do, but I have to say, I value the comments even more! It bugs me a bit when someone puts a cake into favorites, but doesn't leave a comment. So, I only will put a cake into my favorites now if I have the time to make a comment on it. I feel like it's the least I can do if I'm going to use someone else's design as a starting stone or even an example!

Yep, a warm fuzzy now and then sure makes my day...and I like when I am at work, and people (kids) walk by and pick their cake out of the display for their next birthday. People will say "you guys do such a good job here"...and I smile and say thank you, and think its great since I am the ONLY cake decorator there. I get lots of comments at work, and what is even better-they remember MY name! icon_smile.gif
