How Long Does It Take Royal To Break Down???

I'm using this icing
Crusting Dream Whip Icing
2 lbs of icing sugar
2 cups Crisco
1/2 c boiling water
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp vanilla
1 tbsp corn syrup
2 tbsp flour
whip till fluffy
and I made Royal monograms and flowers for the wedding tonight at 7pm...how far in advance can I put the monograms and flowers in the icing without it breaking down?

Well if it crusts then there shouldn't be a problem with putting them on the night before. But if it's not a crusting bc then I would hold off till after you delivered and then it won't last long enough for you to worry bout degradation of the royal. Probably make the medallions more edible for the kids anywho. You know how kids and candy are, no matter if it tastes like sugar n eggs or not.
I would wait for the bc to crust and then put on the emblems with a little royal glue.
Then there shouldn't be a problem with the emblems breaking down if the bc crusts. Just glue em on and away you go. You'll do fine. Don't forget your emergency kit though, a bag of royal to fix those little bumps and breaks that happen along the way and some matching bc incase someone decides to put their fingers in the icing (god forbid). And your icing spatula and a little dust brush (to get rid of crumbs n stuff that have a bad habit of coming off when you are tryin to get perfection)
There was another post like this recently where people noted different results. I've had royal accents on a cake that lasted a week in my house and there was no signs of any melting at all. Someone else also posted she had some last a long time as well. Others noted it happening in a day or two. I am not sure why there is such a difference. Perhaps crusting vs non-crusting bc? Length of time royal is beaten? It's a mystery.
