Ok, I feel like a bozo - I made a purse cake (9x13 pan cut in half and placed side by side) and when I put the fondant on the cake the corners had soo much excess fondant that I couldn't figure out how to smooth it. The pics in the gallery all look like there are no seams. I checked out the tutorial and there isn't a mention of how to drape it without the excess.

Can anybody give me a tip on how to do this smoothly? I haven't covered anything square yet in fondant and would imagine this would be the same scenario there...

Thanks so much for any tips you can give,

I just do a square cake whether a purse or box (see pics) panel by panel for a purse or front 2/3's and back 1/3 for a box. I have much better success that way and no excess! Good luck!
