How long does it usually take MMF to dry? I am making items that must be dried a certain shape. Also, is it better to color with luster dust before it is dry or after? Finally, if you wish to get a "painted" look with luster dust, is it true you add lemon juice?[/quote]

Drying MMF depends on how thick the piece is, if it is already on buttercream, and how humid your house is. Obviously, the thicker the piece the longer it takes.

As far as the luster dust, I have only used it once. I made a cross for a baptism cake and painted the edges of the cross with gold dust. I used a paintbrush I dipped into a small amount of vodka to make it paintable.

The thickness is a big factor but I would give it at leat 24 hours drying time. I prefer to paint the luster dust on after the piece has dried. Luster dusts can be mixed either with alcohol or lemon extract...I prefer the extract!
