How do I make ivory colored buttercream without using the Wilton Ivory coloring?

I tried adding extra vanilla to the buttercream recipe but I wouldn't call it very ivory looking. It still looks too white to me.

Any help?

Do you use butter in your recipe? Try increasing the amount of butter to get a natural ivory tinge.

Ditto what cocopuff said. I usually make an all-butter buttercream and it has an ivory tint to it.

I use all crisco so it's just white. Now I have it all made and it's just not the right color. Is there anything I can add? Any other tips?

a very little bit of brown should do it, though you may want a touch of yellow as well.

ditto that...a little bit of brown will do the job. just add a little and then wait because it will get darker. Then if you need a touch more you can add it.

a pinch - 1/4 tsp. of cocoa powder....it won't alter the taste (unless this is a very small amount of BC your're working with), but it will add some color.
Is it that you don't have ivory color? What colors do you have? I agree on the tiny bit of brown, too.

I use regular vanilla (mine is from Mexico) instead of the clear vanilla to make my buttercream ivory. To me it ends up being the perfect shade. But that is only if I am coloring the whole batch ivory. If I just need a small amount, I use a touch of ivory color - can't remember if it is Americolor or another brand. That is really pretty too.

I have found that if you use butter flavored crisco, that it is a BEAUTIFUL ivory. I would highly recommend giving it a try.
