How many have ever accepted a wedding cake order for a Sunday?

For some reason I'm thinking it would be a little unusual, since some families go to church, etc.,

I made the wedding cake for my son and his bride this last Aug. 20 - which was a Sunday. icon_biggrin.gif

I have one coming up soon, but it's not needed until after I get back from church.

Some people do pick Sundays because its cheaper, my cousin got married on a Sunday but not in a church, however it was in the late afternoon during the summer.

I got married on a Sunday. I forget why we picked that particular day, but I do know my caterer backed out on me a week before the event, because they "just realized" the wedding was on Sunday and they don't "do" Sundays! I don't know how I survived that little trauma, but I did. I did my own cake, so that part, at least, wasn't an issue.

About 1/3 of my orders, wedding or otherwise, are for Sundays.

Never thought about it...I don't charge extra for Sunday events, either. It's just the nature of the business to me.

I do a lot of Sunday weddings. Various reasons I hear for Sunday weddings are (1) costs for facilities are cheaper (2) the facility they can afford and/or wanted was booked for that Saturday, so they moved it one day.

We now live in a 24/7 environment, so it's not like when I was a kid (oh so many decades ago!) and the only businesses open on Sunday was the one drugstore in town for emergency prescriptions (and for those who can't remember a non 24/7 world, the local paper actually printed the name of which drugstore was open, in case you needed something. The stores were open on Sunday on a rotating basis).

Many places charge extra for delivery on Sunday, but in this environment, no one really gives a thought to buying something on Sunday.

I must add that I respect places like Hobby Lobby and Chick-Fil-A for being closed on Sunday so their employees can, (as HL posts on their door) "....enjoy Faith and Family".

Many Jewish people get married on Sundays, too as well as Fridays...they don't get married on Saturdays. So, if there are lots of Jewish people in your community, you'll probably have more Sunday weddings. icon_smile.gif

I just did one on a Sunday two weeks ago for a lady at my church. It wasn't until 3:00 that afternoon. I was a little pressed for time because we couldn't set up until church was out at 1:00. I had over 100 royal icing flowers to put on the cake and 25 fondant bows. Guests started coming around 2:15 so I was decorating around people coming in and out of the room I was in. A little nerve racking!! thumbsdown.gif

I did exactly that when I got married. It was way cheaper and in the summer. And being that I wanted to be married in June, the location that we got married at was totally booked for every sat. in June (1 year out) , so we settled on Sunday.
