Lounge By Chef_Mommy Updated 4 Nov 2005 , 7:00am by freddie
I was just curious if anyone else has more than one craft they like to do. I would like to know what everyone else is doing.
I make cakes, mold chocolate, make soap, personalize candles, make invitaions and cards, and scrapbook.
I'm always looking for new things to try any suggestions are welcome.
Jackie
jmosquera,
I'm always building or making different things, cartoon drawing, sewing, floral baskets for my home, yard sales, Thrift, Salvation Army and Goodwill shopping for cake supplies.
Jack of all trades
What I really love to do the most is counted cross stitch. I have been doing it for 20 years and I just can't seem to do enough of it. I also started collecting disney pins last year after our vacation. It's become quite an addiction too. Just really started doing some cakes for family birthdays and such this year. I enjoy doing it but it's an awful lot of hard work and lot of clean up too!
Well, I have too many hoobies and not enough time to do them all, after work and family, there just doesn't seem to be enough time left, but when I do get a spare moment, I like to sew, scrapbook, and do counted cross stitch, in addition to my cake decorating.
with my schedule these days I don't have any other hobby's
when I have any free time it is spent with my kids and if I my husband is awake it is with him <wink, wink>

Oh boy, not sure if they are hobbies or have to things!!
I do embroidery, cross stitch, quilting, sewing, baking & cooking, and of course cakes!
I enjoy everything that I do, the quilting especially during the evenings as it relaxes me when I can get at it.
I also play "chauffer" driving family members to places they don't know how to get to, but I think that is one of the "have to things"!
I can't wait to see what all hobbies are going to come up here, great thread!
I love to sew reproduction antique dolls to sell...but since having baby girl, I just haven't had the time lately. I do miss it....I found it very relaxing to be in my craft room....alone!!...lol
Hugs, ~Denise
Well I have lots hobbies, just not enough time. I seem to pick them up for a while and put them down, only to come back to them later.
Cake decorating
Sewing -costumes, dolls etc.
photography
digital scrapbooking
polymer clay
Ice Hockey -I play every season on a women's team!
Daisy girl scouts with my daughter
Hiking -I live in Alaska and we hike out by the Mendenhall glacier all summer long!
Tarot Cards
Knitting (know how to crochet too but I prefer and am better at knitting)
used to do Karate but moved away from my dojo and just don't want to go anywhere else. : (
used to make my own soap although I don't anymore
Have wanted to try ribbon embrodiery and ribbon flowers but haven't got all the materials or the time to do it yet
I could never get the hang of cross stitch. I have tons of books and patterns though that I collect from garage sales. I need to just sell them though as I will never make any of them.
hmmm, I think that's all. At least for now, LOL.
These are all great maybe I'll venture off into some new things soon. I wanted to make sure I wasn't the only person that has too many things to do and not enough time for them. I'll show this thread to my DH now he will know I'm not the only person that does this.

I bounce from hobby to hobby~~ my husband always talks about turning my cake making into a business.....I'm too afraid I'll get sidetracked or burnt out.
-Poker (both play, host my own tournaments, and I deal at large events)
-Rugby
-Watch a Few TV Shows (Rome, The Shield, Survivor, The Amazing Race, Good Eats, and The Office [BBC and US versions])
-Travel (lucky to have been all over the world)

-Computer Games (Silent Hunter III, Dungeon Siege II)
-Web Site Stuff and Photoshop
Reading (especially cake decorating books and recipe books)
Jigsaw puzzles
Handheld solitaire (I've almost worn the buttons off)
The one thing I spend the most time on is this website!
One that I don't get to do much anymore: stargazing! I love to go out to my backyard and look at the sky with or without my telescope! I can't seem to find the time anymore.....
Besides cake making and decorating, I enjoy cooking - gourmet stuff. DH and I are into wine tasting. I read a lot, and last but not least, I seem to allow myself to be talked into helping with high school reunions back in the UK. We did one in 2003 for over 750, I did one in 2004 for my class, and we're working on another big one for 2007!
In addition to baking, I also love to cook (I own close to 90 cookbooks!), read (Anne Rice and historical fiction), garden and hike with my Siberian Husky by my side. She never gets tired and complains like my human companions do!
It is sooo good to see so many diverse and busy people. My hubby and I are both crazy busy too.
In addition to baking - from cakes, cookies, breads, pies, etc., I also enjoy candy making, scrapbooking, tole painting, working out, sewing, crafting - too many mediums to list, reading (just got into Clive Cussler and Carl Hiaasen), and of course playing with our four year old. This is all in addition to my full time job. My four year old is following in my tracks - she loves to craft. My friends think it is funny that she owns her own craft organizer with her glues, scissors, paints, bits and pieces and various papers. When I had her folks thought I'd slow down. At the time I joked that she was just going to be an extra pair of hands for me, and she is getting there. LOL!! She's my cookie cutter assistant and hole puncher (for tags for cookie favors). We have tons of fun together.
Like everyone else ... too many interest, not enough time!
Aside from making cakes I am into:
*bellydancing
*yoga
*scuba diving (just started, but I LOVE IT!)
*scrapbooking
*breastfeeding advocate (don't get me started!)
*our pets ... we currently only have 1 fishtank (90ga) a cat and a lizard (leopard gecko), but over the years I have has as many as 8 fishtanks, a ferret, wild turtles, varous rodents (hamster, gerbil, guinea pig, mice, a rat), budgies and cockatiels, dogs (bichon & airdales), 2 cats and various other critters that lived with us for a short while! I'm aslo fascinated by insects, but they don't count as pets! LOL
*reading (everything I can get my hands on, but faves include Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Anne Rice, Clive Barker, Diana Gabaldon, Clive Cussler, and so many more... Crighton too! Then there are the MANY cake mags, architectural mags, Yoga Journal, MS Living, the LCBO mag, oh the list goes on and on! )
*I am an architectural technologist by training, so have designed my "dream house" about a hundred times, but have designed only 1 house that's actually been built!
*sewing (mostly halloween & bellydance costumes these days, but i did design/sew my wedding gown many years ago)
*my web page ... I have no idea what i'm doing so I just fake it... some things work great, others need more work...
*Sudoku puzzles (my latest addiction)
*spreadsheet / macro design (luckily this is part of my day job!)
*my kids
and cake related but not cake...
* this web site!!!
* pulled sugar (I took an afternoon course and it was so much fun! OH, the possibilites!)
* sculpting in polymer clay (mostly wedding cake toppers)
I'm sure there's more, but as you can guess, I tend to be a bit scattered...
