Can you freeze buttercream icing (all shortening) for very long? If so, what is too long? I don't decorate very many cakes and I always have some icing left over. I didn't know if I could put it in the freezer til my next cake.

Thanks,
~Heather

I don't see why not, I've left mine (all crisco recipe) in the fridge for a few months and it's been fine- other than needing to be re-stirred.

I know the partial crisco - mostly butter stuff can be frozen for up to two months, I would think it would be the same for yours.

If it is the all shortening I have kept that in the freezer for up to three months.
