Baking With Soup Cans

When I use the cans I bake them at the same temp as the rest of the cake. I have also baked multiple cans at once. I just watch them closely to see when they are done. Different can sizes cook for different times. I let the can cake get a little more done than a regular cake just for stability. I made this cake this weekend using different size cans for the booster rockets and the big tank. Pound cake works well. This cake was regular white cake.
I haven't tried this yet but I need to make a 'family tree' cake and this is a great way to do it! I have one of those can openers that actually unseal the top of the can and separate it from the body of the can. This leaves a smooth edge that isn't sharp at all. It might be worth investing in one if anyone were to want to do many of these cakes. Just a thought! Anyways thanks for the idea.
I have read about this B4...however in a previous post it was stated that today's can's are lined w/ plastic.... Now I have not tried this or have I yet looked into this plastic thingy. Just a somthin' to consider.
