Hi All,

Where do you get boards that fit in the large 14 x 20 Wilton boxes for sheet cakes? The only boards I have seen are those scalloped "show and serve" boards, that are a little too big for the boxes. I use those sheet boxes for large cupcake orders. I have been cutting my own boards out of large shipping boxes that I have laying around, but I'd like to get some that are the right size to begin with.

Thanks!

I'm pretty new at this, but I've found the local grocery stores to be VERY reasonable and good quality, bases and boxes. And when it's as big as a full sheet, they typically don't even have the store name on them. You might want to drop by one and just ask. Good luck!

I usually buy the ones with the scalloped edge. I don't know if you have one in your area but, Ben Franklin Crafts had boxes that were big enough for them. I have also seen the boxes in one of the online supply stores. I will see if I can find it.

What I have done is I go to Home Depot and have them cut me a piece of masonite the size I want then I buy foam board and put a piece on top of the masonite and wrap the whole thing in freezer paper and it is very sturdy and cheap. If I know I wont get my board back I just use a couple of layers of foam board.

That's all!!! That would be a well-spent $10! I'm going to have to check on it. Thanks for the great info.

I also just went to Sams Club and got window box lids, bottoms, and cake boards very reasonably prices. They come in lots of 50 each. It is nice to know that I don't have to run out at the last minute to get a box.

I belong to Costco...wonder if they offer something similar?? Did you just ask at the bakery? I assume they don't have the stuff out on the shelf?

Try ccwsupply.com, they have regular and double strength boards.

Gosh, I see this problem posted so often. It sure makes me appreciate my cake supply store, who stocks all kinds of boards and boxes for whatever I need. Thanks, Ms. B!

Try doing a search for waxed cake boards. They will pop up!
