Do you cool the cakes upside down like you decorate them, or right side up like they cook in the pan. I really haven't found the answer to this anywhere!

Thanks!

I cool them upside down, the way I'm going to decorate it. I invert the cake out of the pan, then leave it there to cool completely. I wouldn't want to attempt inverting it again. I've lost too many cakes that way icon_smile.gif

I do the same.... after about 10 minutes on the cooling rack, I turn it out of the pan upside down ---which is now right side up--LoL---and that is the side I decoarate. Makes a nice flat surface. icon_smile.gif

I cool for ten minutes in the pan or whatever the directions suggest and then cool on racks right side up, the way they cook in the pan.

Thanks for the replies! I didn't know if there was any sort of "rule" for this that I didn't know about.

for the peopel who decorate with the bottom side up dont you have to level your cakes?

I cook mine, cool for 10 minutes in pan, invert pan onto colling rack, then once cooled flip onto a board so that it is the same way it was int he pan.

I cool ten minutes in the pan turn out on cooling rack take Out the flowernail the Use anothe rack and turn back up the way the cake bakes. Cool with a flour sack towel over the cake. Then I level and set board on top and flip over and decorate. So far I have not had a disaster.
