Okay...I need ideas!!! I need to do a cake for a "Scrapbook Weekend" event. It doesn't have to be large, but can be if it will look better. All I can come up with is a half sheet decorated to look like a scrapbook page and I'd like some thing a bit more "WOW" than that!!!

Thanks in advance for your help!!!

You could put an edible image on it, write a quote on the side and then put on some little decorations. The background of the cake could be stripes or little polka dots. This sounds like it would be a fun cake to make!

You might get some ideas from the following website:

Okay...I think I have an idea....what if I do a 3-D book that is open with a couple of edible images on it??? then I can lean a modeled pair of scissors up against the book or something like that???

I've never done edible images, so I'll have to look into that and do some research. Hopefully a shop around here does them. Any advice on that as well would be great!

Thanks! And keep ideas coming!

you could do edible images of some of the supplies too...stickers, templates, diecuts. maybe do chocolate transfers that look like mini patterned cardstock. maybe a fondant punch

If you don't want to do edible images, I would just make a frame out of fondant and put a real picture in the frame, then just lay it on the cake. I'm terrible at explaining things so if you have a question about this just let me know!

I have a few scrapbook style cakes I have done - I used fondant for paper cutouts and edible images.

Or you could make little scrapbook tools out of fondant and set up the top of the cake to look like a scrapbook in progress, like someone is working on a page with all their stuff scattered all over the place? That could be really cute!

what if you made a cake that LOOKED like a closed album (12x12 square maybe? thats the size album i use!) and then mke some supplies out of fondant? scizzors, "Short-Cuts" paper pieces (triangles, strips, etc) maybe a box of photo splits... and maybe even one or two photos.... not necessarily edible images... they could be copies of real photos just placed on top of the cake with the supplies? OHHH.... i like this idea.... Maybe i should do one! lol (i'm a big scrapbooker!)

So, I guess I could use brown fondant and wrap the whole top, bottom and binding and then use white fondant and make it in strips to represent the pages on the three other sides? I think that would work. Great idea!

Just in case I use edible images, I've asked the 5 girls going to each email me a photo that represents themselves....maybe I could do the idea of the cake itself being a scrapbook, but the book is open with a photo from each on the inside...then supplies leaning on the "scrapbook" around the edges? Ooooo...I'm liking this more and more...thanks for helping me get my brain going on this. I've had a mental block!
